Women from across the Tablelands gathered at the Mareeba Heritage Centre on Friday night to celebrate Queensland Women’s Week.
Coordinated by Kathy Rowling, drought support ambassador with the Northern Gulf Resource Management Group, the evening heard inspiring and informative stories from a range of guest speakers.
These included Robyn Boundy, owner and manager of a 350 sow pork production unit, Elders livestock sales representative Kate Knowles, Kaila Ridgeway, a development horticulturist for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Jess Fealy, finalist for 2017 RIRDC Rural Women’s Award for Queensland and event coordinator Kathy Rowling.
Mrs Rowling said the evening was a huge success, with great feedback from those that attended.
The event was funded by YWCA Queensland on behalf of the Queensland Government.
A Basalt Bash and Beauty Women's Day will be held in Mt Surprise from 12 to 14 June. More information will be made available at a later date.
