With the second sale of the year taking place, and a much smaller yarding with just over 680 head yarded, prices at Emerald had little movement on the previous week’s rates.
Quality was good with most cattle coming from the local area and there was a full buying panel in attendance.
With the reduced yarding evident all categories still came under strong competition.
Bullocks over 550kg made to 305c to average 295c, while steers 400-500kg made to 334c to average 328c, steers 320-400kg making to 349c and averaged 324c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 383c and averaged 341c.
Heifers over 400kg made to 305c to average 289c while heifers 300-400kg made to 342c to average 312c, those in the weaner weight ranges making to 374c to average 329c.
Cows over 520kg made to 255c to average 245c, with cows 400-520kg making 248c to average 237c. A mixed pen of cows and calves made to $1060 per unit.
