Staff at the Dalrymple Saleyards at Charters Towers are preparing for their first cattle sale of the New Year, expected to be held on January 25.
Due to predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms, the original date of January 18 has been postponed a week.
Ray White Rural principal, Kevin Currie, said this year’s sales program had not been set yet due to unstable weather conditions.
“It is always difficult organising the date of the first sale for the New Year,” Mr Currie said.
“We were hoping to have our first sale on January 18 but it looks like it will be the following week on the 25th.
“At this stage we are unsure of what cattle we will have at our first sale, but there is plenty of cattle out there ready to be sold. It is just a matter of sellers booking it in.
“If a number of cattle come forward before then (25th) we can build a sale before hand.”
Vendors can book in cattle by contacting their preferred agent.
