Numbers lifted a little more this week with just under 2100 cattle penned at Emerald on October 20.
All classes were well represented in a fair quality offering with some quality lines of both feeder weight steers and heifers prominent in the line-up. Most cattle were drawn from the local area, however there were cattle from Clermont and Aramac making up a noticeable portion of the offering.
As has been evident in all markets this week values did lose ground across the board, slaughter descriptions 8 to 10 cents easier, and store categories anywhere from 5 to 15 cents under last weeks very strong rates.
Bullocks over 550kg topped 291c/kg to average 288 cents, steers 500-550kg sold to an isolated 346c and average 286c, 400-500kg steers reached 352c to average 305c.
Those in the 320-400kg range peaked at 387c to average 341c, while steers in the light weight ranges made to 401c to average 350c.
Cow eased around 10c/kg, those over 520kg selling to 253c to average 241c, while cows 400-520kg made to 246c to average 234c.
Heifers followed similar trend those over 400kg losing up to 15c to top 330c and average 288c, 300-400kg heifers peaked at 364c to average 307c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges topped 388c to average 338c. One small pen of cows and calves made to $1540 per unit.
The Hanrahan family, Palari, Comet sold very well finished Brahman cross bullocks to 290c/kg to weigh 714kg or $2069, while the Hatte family, Ramboda, Anakie sold a draft of 402kg Santa cross steers the tops to $1457 to average $1384.
Don and Kay Gordon, Burn Meadows, Emerald sold a run of 410kg Brangus steers for 345c the tops to $1496, while the Ward family, Jabiru, Emerald sold 511kg Brangus steers that made to 346c and $1769.
Regular vendors the Barlow family, Amaroo, Comet sold Brangus weaners – the 296kg steer portion to 375c/kg and $1144, while their 230kg heifers made 388c and $896.
Graham and Lisa Ford, Rickyll, Capella sold a run of top quality No5 crossbred heifers to top 366c and $1193, while Rick and Thelma Powell, Warrigal, Mt Coolon offered a draft of No 5 Brahman cross heifers to 351c and $1331.
Mark and Melinda Miller, Hillcot, Duaringa had a strong sale with their 595kg Droughtmaster No4 heifers making 280c to return $1669.
