With more than 1000 cattle at the June 16 Emerald sale prices saw a good increase across most sectors.
Light weight weaner steers saw the biggest improvement with a good line of PCAS steers making it to 406c, 35c better on last week’s sale.
Slaughter cow categories also saw an increase of 10-12c better. Bullocks over 550kg made to 297c/kg to average 283c, while steers 500-550kg topped 290c and averaged 271c, steers 400-500kg made to 288c to average 275c, 320-400kg steers topped 321c to average 280c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 406c to average 380c.
Heifers over 400kg made to 285c to average 272c, while heifers 300-400kg made to 277c to average 264c, with heifers in the weaner weight ranges making to 294c to average 256c.
Heavy cows over 520kg made to 252c to average 248c, while cows 400-520kg made to 255c to average 229c. A small lot of cows and calves made it to $820 per unit.

David Lowery and family, Talafa, Emerald sold Droughtmaster cross cows to 250c to weigh 505kg or $1263, the Sibson family, Cotherstone, Dysart consigned Brahman cows reaching 237c and weighed 424kg or $1006. The Daniels family, Ivy Vale, Gindie consigned Droughtmaster cows to 241c and weighed 456kg to return $1100.
