THE inaugural Honeycombes Tractor Pull will take centre stage at this year’s Burdekin Show this month.
To be hosted by the Burdekin Machinery Preservationists on 30 June, the event will see competitors from as far south as Brisbane and north to Cairns compete at the Ayr Showgrounds.
It’s staging follows the successful biennial Queensland Heritage Rally held at the showgrounds in 2014, where close to 6000 people watched on as tractors attempted to pull a sled..
The event is supported by tractor pull enthusiasts from the Atherton Tablelands who hosted an event at last year’s Rotary FNQ Field Days.
They will bring a purpose-built, five-tonne transfer sled.
Sponsor Honeycombes Sales and Service hopes the tractor pull will boost crowd numbers to the show.
The event has already attracted 25 competitors with the number of entries expected to grow.
