The Normanton Gun Club held its annual shoot on the weekend, which marked twelve months since the North Queensland Clay Target Shooters kicked off their Pink & Blue Initiative to support the McGrath Foundation and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Prior to the shoot the traphouses at the club received a bright new coat of paint in honour of the initiative, and at the completion of Saturday’s program of events the Pink & Blue Teams Challenge was held. The event was well supported by participants and spectators.
Normanton Gun Club spokesperson Cherie Ryan said over the course of the weekend merchandise was sold, including branded bottled water, and further donations were collected, adding over $1500 to the fund.
“In the past twelve months the initiative has donated a total of $15,000, and this year’s goal is to present an additional $20,000 at the Northern Zone Trap Carnival to be held in Charters Towers in September,” Ms Ryan said.
