Support from southern restockers and feedlot buyers saw prices improve for young cross-bred cattle in store condition.
Heavy feeder steers 400-500kg topped at 147c and averaged the same, steers 350-400kg sold to 198c for an of average 179c, while steers in the 280-350kg range topped at 202c to average 170c. Demand for 220-280kg weaner steers was strong with prices reaching 204c to average 175c, and steers up to 220kg made to 208c for an average of 174c.
Heifers 350-450kg topped at 158c to average 137c, while 280-350kg heifers reached 160c to average 150c. Heifers in the 220-280kg range made to 160c for an average of 143c and heifers to 220kg topped at 156c to average 143c.
A small offering of cows and calves made to $540/unit.
