LEADING Brahman stud vendors from across Australia are eagerly anticipating putting their respective top quality bulls through the sale ring at CQLX Gracemere during the 2014 Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale (RBWS) being held on October 6-8.
A total of 176 vendors will offer 806 bulls over the course of the three day sale; Greys will be selling on Monday October 6 and Tuesday October 7 while the Reds will start selling on Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday, October 9.
This year’s sale is sponsored by the Rocky Repro, Commonwealth Bank, Suncorp Bank, Performance Feeds, Bayer Animal Health, and the Gracemere Hotel and includes 213 polled and scurred bulls. All lots on offer are Pompes free, Australian Cattle Vets (ACV) soundness evaluated and have scrotal circumferences and semen quality above ACV standards.
As always, Australia’s biggest and best value Brahman bull sale will present future sires to suit all needs, from elite stud purposes through to commercial beef production for any market.
Freight rebates are on offer for buyers purchasing five bulls or more, if travelling for more than 500km or to the Northern Territory.
Vendors and prospective buyers are invited to attend a Happy Hour and Barbecue at the saleyards at 4pm on Sunday, October 5, where they can preview the 30 Vendor’s Choice bulls that have been catalogued. The annual RBWS charity semen auction will also be held on Sunday afternoon at 5.30pm, this year raising funds for the Kids Cancer Project, Youngcare and the Jeff McCamley Memorial Youth Development Fund.
Last year’s sale grossed $3.7 million and recorded a 93 per cent clearance rate, averaging $5613 for 672 bulls. Budget buyers were well catered for, with half the draft selling for a very affordable $2500 to $4500.
The top price of $72,000 was paid for the impeccably bred grey bull FBC El Toro Manso, FBC Brahmans, Wowan.
