The 2012 meeting had to be abandoned because the race track failed to come up to the new Racing Queensland standards set by the previous board, but the Richmond Shire Council came to the rescue with the money to ensure the track is compliant with Racing Queensland regulations.
Maxwelton Race Club secretary Connie Wharton told the North Queensland Register that the committee wished to thank sponsors Hawkins Fuel, Mackey Wales Law, Olsen's Stockfeed, and Dan's Tippers who have generously come on board with sponsorship.
The day will feature a five-race card with a very credible $36,000 of prizemoney, fashions on the field, the Maxi Races tug-o-war, loads of fun and entertainment for the kids, and Richmond heart throb Justin Borg will keep the music rolling well into the night.
There will be a courtesy bus running from Richmond to the Maxwelton race track.
Anyone who has ever been to a Maxwelton race meeting will know that they are a 'must-go' experience.
So throw the swag in the ute/boot or otherwise and head off to 'Maxi', 50km west of Richmond, on the weekend of April 6-7. You won't be disappointed.
