NUMBERS continued the increased trend with all categories well supplied at Longreach where 4941 cattle were yarded which included high numbers from western regions. Prices were generally lower across all categories.

Light yearling steers averaged 155c to sell to a top of 170c while the heavy weights settled on 154c/kg. Light yearling heifers were back 5c to 142c and the medium weights sold to 135c to average 133c/kg.
The light grown steers to slaughter sold 2c cheaper averaging 135c while medium lines settled on 133c/kg. Heavy weight C3 steers averaged 142c to be 16c/kg lower. Light unconditioned grown heifers made 121c, while lines in better condition averaged 125c/kg.
Plain condition light weight cows sold from 83c to 105c, while medium weight lines generally averaged 103c/kg. The better quality cows averaged 115c/kg for the heavy weight varieties.
