THE Blackall associated agents yarded 1218 head at their regular fat and store cattle sale held on April 11.

The Queensland market continues to ease with large numbers still flowing in, Blackall had a reduced yarding as a result of some handy falls of rain up the Torrens Creek road and north of Aramac.
No Bullocks were yarded, heavy cows were easier on the previous week’s rates with only two export processors operating, the best cow topped at 124c/kg, while plenty of fat cows made between 110c-115c.
Store cows felt the pinch, with plenty only making 70c - 80c. Store cattle were well represented, the best Charolais-cross steers topped at 157c, while light trade weight feeder steers topped at 158c.
Feeder weight heifers topped at 142c, which was reasonably firm on the previous week’s rates.
Vealer heifers topped at 144c and were in good supply.
Peel Northampton Downs Pty Ltd, Northampton Downs, Blackall, sold Santa cows to a top of 119c to average 550kg and return $656 per head, while FJ and JG Manwaring, Ballygar, Aramac, sold Santa steers for a top of 158c to average 362kg and return $575p/h.
FG and SA Russell, Shenandoah Park, Blackall, sold Hereford-cross cows to a top of 111c to average 557kg and return $619p/h, they also sold Hereford-cross steers to a top of 157c for 225kg to return $354p/h.
Cameron and Kayla Russell, Shenandoah Park, Blackall, sold Charolais-cross steers to a top of 157c to average 265kg and return $416p/h, while T and K Box, Lancevale, Blackall, sold Santa-cross steers which topped at 130c for 395kg to return $514p/h, they also sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers that topped at 117c to average 171kg and return $200p/h.
Maranda Pastoral Company, Bonnie Doon, Barcaldine, sold Charolais-cross heifers to a top of 133c to average 318kg and return $423p/h, they also sold Santa steers for 130c to average 357kg and return $466p/h.
GJ and JM Bambling, Glenavon, Aramac, sold 507kg Red Brahman heifers for 133c to return $675p/h, while Linamar Pastoral Co, Linamar, Isisford, sold 624kg Santa cows for 122c to return $762p/h.
Ross and Sons, Vacy, Yaraka, sold 307kg Santa-cross heifers for 143c to return $440p/h while Thomas Bennett, Avonleigh, Blackall, sold 245kg Santa-cross heifers for 142c to return $349p/h.
H L H and S J Glasson, Greenlaw, Yaraka, topped the market with a pen of Santa cows at 124c weighing 606kg to return $752p/h, while Moorlands Grazing, Moorlands, Blackall, topped the heifer market with their Santa-cross heifers, weighing 497kg made to 138c to return $687p/h.
Woodbine Grazing, Woodbine, Blackall, sent in a pen of Santa-cross heifers that earned 137c weighing 536kg to return $735p/h, and Mundurin Grazing, Mundurin, Winton, sent down Droughtmaster-cross steers topping at 153c weighing 227kg to return $347p/h.
AE and JM Smith, Shady Downs, Tambo, sold heavy cows to 122c weighing 631kg to return $771p/h.
