THE Mareeba Combined Agents Store Sale held yesterday saw a yarding of 306 head, which was significantly higher than last week’s much smaller consignments.

The yarding comprised of 126 steers, 22 heifers, 126 cows, and 32 bulls.
Quality was mixed and prices were mostly cheaper.
Medium weight grown steers (200-400kg) lost 2c to average 117c/kg, while medium weight cows were 16c cheaper to average 83c/kg.
Light weight cows decreased 24c to 70c/kg with one yarding of 10 cows averaging 41c/kg to return an average of $140.
Heavier steers in the 400-600kg range averaged 113c/kg to return $511.
Bulls in the 300-500kg range averaged 66c/kg while heavier bulls over 650kg averaged 93.7c/kg.
Mareeba Combined Agents are hosting a special store sale on Saturday June 1 at the Mareeba Saleyards.
Meanwhile, the Charters Towers Combined Agents Store and Prime Cattle sale today saw a total of 857 head yarded.
The yarding comprised of 531 store cattle and 326 prime cattle.
Store steers topped 125.2c to average 112c and return $370, while prime steers topped 134.2c to average 121.6c/kg.
A lot of 58 cows and calves averaged $379.66, while cows alone averaged 83.6c to return $351.40.
At an average weight of 506kg, bulls averaged 89.4c to return $452.
