THE 2013 Townsville Cup has been run and won at a very successful Cluden Park meeting which saw an enthusiastic crowd of 11,000 turn up for a great day of racing, fashions on the field and partying.

The feature Townsville RSL Townsville Cup was won by the John Manzelmann trained More More More ridden by Chris Whitely from the highly fancied Danagaze, jockey Anthony Patillo 2nd and Junee Boy, jockey Stephen Putris 3rd.
It was the second Townsville Cup win by the Mackay trainer, John Manzelmann who bought the horse form a Sydney stable for just $2000.
The second feature race of the day, the XXXX Gold Cleveland Bay Open Handicap saw a very close finish with Ladretto, jockey Graham Kliese 1st, from Jabiru Dreaming, jockey Michael Cullen 2nd and Mazuka with David Hayse aboard 3rd.
The standard of the Fashions on the Field competition was as high as you would see at any of the major metropolitan meetings at Flemington or Randwick and judges had a time of it before coming up with the following result: Fashion Filly, Emma Jackson; Millinery Award, Dannielle Cooper; Best Dressed Male, Brady Farrell, Lady of the Day, Beverley Smith; Best Dressed Couple, Jahred Hayston and Sharnee Eremas.
Organisers can be congratulated on a smooth running event and now can look forward to the Townsville Amateurs in a couple of weeks.
