Crowd numbers markedly higher than the 2012 meet, with punters travelling from all over the north for what proved to be a perfect storm of a race day action.
Bowen Turf Club President Cyril Vains, said he was very impressed with the outcome of the day on and off the track.
“We had an excellent turnout which is very promising for future events, the track conditions were superb and we had some really great action on the track generally featuring large fields of horses,” Mr Vains said.
“All-in-all I couldn’t be happier with the organisation and running of the days’ events,” he said.
“I’d also like to say happy 90th birthday to Bill Kelly who is a long standing volunteer and supporter of the Bowen Turf Club.”
“I’d also like to thank our sponsors: XXXX; Telstra Shop Cannonvale; Browns Milk Supply; BP Merinda; Stones Diamond Jewellers; S&W Crane Hire; Arabon Seafoods; Archers Softdrinks; Visy Board; Landmark; Coates and Pryde’s EasiFeed.
In race action the Bowen Cup was won by the Lyn Manzelmann trained Ariston ridden by Mark Usher.
