THE normally sleepy Nixon’s Crossing, near Katherine in the Northern Territory, has transformed into a sea of horses, hay and hats for the property’s annual campdraft.
In total, 180 competitors are set to complete more than 1100 runs over five days of competition as they vie for almost $65,000 in prizemoney.
Nixon’s Crossing owner and event organiser Terry Jones said she believed the facilities were what made the campdraft – now in its sixth year – so popular.
“I think it’s the best venue and we take a lot of pride making that way,” she said.
“People can actually sit here on a grass mound and they can actually see the cut-out yard.”
The campdraft concludes on Sunday.
