Australian singer-songwriter legend Graeme Connors will headline the Rural Press Club’s special drought relief fundraising dinner at Parliament House in Brisbane this Friday.
He is one of a number lending their support to the event that will be supporting the work of three charities – the Western Queensland Drought Appeal, the Queensland Country Women’s Association Public Rural Crisis Fund, and Buy a Bale.
Club President Brendan Egan said the Parliament belongs to the people and is an appropriate venue for people to come together to raise money to support fellow Queenslanders suffering from the devastating drought.
He said the night would bring a fun, rural theme to Parliament House, providing a unique opportunity to celebrate the important role and contribution of Queensland’s rural sector.
Patrons are being encouraged to put on their best boots for a night of food, drink, entertainment and a charity auction.
It follows on from the second CEO Outback Business Summit at Parliament House, which is exploring new opportunities for farmers to access capital in drought-affected rural Australia.
The summit itself will be opened by Olympic gold medallist Cate Campbell, who has said she and her friends would do anything they could to support Agrihive to raise new opportunities for farmers affected by drought.
She will be speaking about personal leadership.
