THE Canegrowers board has appointed well-respected and long-serving staffer Ron Mullins as the Acting CEO of Canegrowers.
The organisation’s chairman, Paul Schembri, said cane growers across the state will be happy to know that their organisation is in good hands while the board advances the recruitment of a new CEO.
The organisation’s outgoing CEO, Brendan Stewart, tendered his resignation on February 23.
Mr Schembri says that Ron Mullins is well-known to growers and stakeholders alike, having been with Canegrowers for 47 years. During this time he had worked in regional offices including the Burdekin, Tully and Mackay, before moving to the Canegrowers Queensland office based in Brisbane where he is the chief operating officer for the organisation.
Ron, who had recently announced his pending retirement, says he is looking forward to working with growers, the Canegrowers team and the new government for one last time as acting CEO, before he winds up his memorable career with the peak sugarcane growers group.
