A yarding of 420 head at Miriam Vale on Tuesday saw a firm market on steers and dearer for heifers. Cattle presented were generally in store condition. Buyers came from Kingaroy, Marlborough and Monto with strong local support.
Older steers sold to $970, while the yarding consisted of No 8 Steers and heifers. Wayne and Sue, Gin Gin sold 20 month Droughtmaster cross steers for $760. The Turner family, Lowmead sold No 8 Brahman cross steers for $640. Lex and Gavin Cawthray, Miriamvale sold Brahman cross No 8 Steers for $610.
Most older weaner steers sold from $550 to $650 smaller types $400 to $500. Brad and Wendy Wildman, Iveragh sold Santa cross heifers No 7 for $580 while the No 8 made $460. Kylie Parker, Bororen sold Simbrah heifers No 8 for $440. Most heifers sold $400 to $460. Cows and calves sold to $1250 while cows sold from $880 to $1080.
