JOHN Morris’ 8200 hectare (20,263 acre) Central Queensland cattle property Tallawalah is now being sold through a registrations of interest process.
Tallawalah, which is located midway between Rockhampton and Mackay, was scheduled to be auctioned next week. However, following the ongoing rain caused by Cyclone Iris the sale process has been re-evaluated.
Marketing agent Geoff Warriner said it has been too wet to conduct inspections following more than 600mm of rain.
“Noting the forecast and rainfall to date in the last month alone, we envisage we will continue to be restricted in conducting inspections for some weeks,” Mr Warriner said.
Tallawalah features rainforests, towering trees, 360 bird species and Claireview Creek that runs clear clean water all year round.
The property is well known for its water. It’s micro-climate virtually traps moisture-laden clouds along the eastern escarpment of the Connor Rages and drops an average 1100mm on the improved pastures.
Strategic grazing and management have not only reduced age of turnoff, pregnancy rates of 93pc and average daily live weight gains of 800g/animal. Even allowing for its conservative current stocking rate of 3600 livestock units, Tallawalah produces about 800,000kg of beef a year.
