Police believe they've found the remains of a young mother who vanished from a far north Queensland town eight years ago.
Human remains were found on Wednesday, a day after Leeann Lapham's former partner pleaded guilty to her manslaughter.
The remains were found at Cowley Beach, just south of Innisfail, where the 30-year-old was last seen at a motel with her three-week-old son in April 2010.
The boy was later found safe but Ms Lapham was never seen again.
Ms Lapham's former partner, Graeme Colin Evans, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to her manslaughter in the Cairns Supreme Court.
It's understood he led investigators to the place where he dumped her body.
Ms Lapham's mother Kerry Johnson attended Evans' Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday.
She was shaking as she left, telling reporters: "I'm just hoping to get a little bit of peace, that's all I can say".
