Heifers across all categories received a surge in price with heifers 280–350kg seeing the most significant boost at Emerald on November 16.

With 2000 head yarded on November 16, the combined Emerald agents put together a larger yet similar quality offering to that of last week.

Heifers across all categories received a surge in price with heifers 280–350kg seeing the most significant boost, while backgrounder steers also jumped in price, mostly due to a better quality yarding throughout the category.

In the prime section, bullocks over 550kg topped at 283c to average 262c and  heavy steers 500–550kg reached 283c and averaged 271c. Heavy heifers over 400kg made to 273c to average 270c. Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 231c and averaged 227c, 450-520kg cows made to 227c to average 221c, while heavy bulls over 600kg reached 254c to average 235c.

In the store section, heavy feeder steers 400–500kg topped at 295c and averaged 281c, trade feeder steers 350-400kg reached 317c and averaged 282c.

Backgrounder steers 280-350kg made to 372c and averaged 336c, weaner steers 200-280kg sold to 386c and averaged 364c, while light steers under 200kg made to 381c to average 365c.

Feeder heifers 350–400kg reached 283c and averaged 272c, backgrounder heifers 280-350kg topped at 327c to average 299c, while weaner heifers 200-280kg reached 336c to average 320c.

A pen of large framed Euro cross cows with branded large calves at foot, sold for $1660 per unit.

John and Berryl Baker, Morana, Capella consigned Droughtmaster cross steers selling at 375c and weighing 233kg to return $875. The Whitehead family, Satelite, Springsure sold Droughtmaster steers to 383c weighing 207kg or $796.

Geoff and Julie Beak, Kahler, Dingo offered Droughtmaster heifers to 283c and weighed 360kg or $1019. The Flohr Family, Wotonga Station, Moranbah sold a commendable line of Droughtmaster heifers reaching a top of 336c, the lead pen made 320c to weigh 303kg and returning $973.

Lawrence and Pat Hack consigned large framed Euro cross cows with branded calves at foot for  $1660.
