With similar numbers to last week, the Emerald agents yarded 800 head at Thursday’s store and prime sale.
Heavy feeder steers saw the biggest increase in rate due to the quality while weaner steers also received a slight increase with the anticipation of a change of weather.
Bullocks over 550kg and heavy steers 500 – 550kg were too few numbers to quote, heavy feeder steers 400 – 500kg reached a high of 259c and averaged at 249c, steers in the 350 – 400kg range topped at 271c to average at 243c, with steers 280 – 350kg topping at 336c and averaging 284c.
Weaner steers 200 – 280kg topped at 336c and averaged 311c, while light steers under 200kg topped at 309c and averaged 298c.
Heifers over 400kgs topped at 234c and averaged 224c, while heifers 350 – 400kg are unable to be quoted this week due to insufficient numbers.
Light feeder heifers 280 – 350kgs topped at 279c and averaging 252c, heifers 200 – 280kgs reached 264c and averaging 250c, while heifers under 200kg topped at 269c and averaged 236cs.
Cows over 520kg topped at 214c to average 201c, while cows 450 – 520kg reached 206c and averaged 180c. A pen of mixed age Droughtmaster cross cows, in store condition with 3-4month old Droughtmaster calves at foot sold for $1200 per unit.
Highlights:
Mike and Shirley Sullivan, Turoc, Clermont consigned Droughtmaster steers to reach a top of 336c/kg to average 290kg and returning $976.
Greg and Alicia Magee, St. Omer, Capella sold Brangus heifers topping the 280-350kg heifer category attracting a price of 279c to average 327kg and returning $914.
The Randell Family, Mt Stuart, Capella offered Brahman cows that received 201c averaging 632kg or $1272.
The Prince family, Oak Park, Capella consigned Droughtmaster cows and calves topping the open auction section of the sale with a price of $1200.
