Classified bulls topped at $25,000 while purebreds made to $7500 at the annual Cardona Canowindra Santa Gertrudis Sale at Blackwater on Tuesday.
For vendors, the Atkinson family, Cardona Stud, Blackwater and the Emerald based Canowindra Stud, owned by the Wolff family and their invited vendors, the Jamar Stud, Emerald the result was a resounding endorsement of their new marketing concept, the physical product, repeat clientele and bulk buyer support and end user satisfaction, according to the stud principles.
Top seller at $25,000 was the 29-month, 945kg, 135cm sq EMA, Cardona Package (PS) selling to the Bill and Rebecca Hawkins, Annderbecca Stud, Emerald. Package bull is a paternal half brother to the $52,500 sale topper at the 2016 fixture.
Jason and Joanne Wolff and family, Canowindra Stud Emerald saw their 14 bulls average $10,429. Top of their draft at $21,000 was the 975kg 23-month-old Canowindra Parkroyal (P) selling to Matthew Way and Mark Daly, Kilcock Stud, Deniliquin, NSW.
Invited vendors, Tony and Louise Prentice, Jamar Stud, Emerald sold their trio of poll sons of Glenn Oaks Jibba (P) for a $17,000 average. Top was the $22,000 Jamar Mason (23-months) (832kg) (131cm sq EMA) selling to the Dillon family, Surbiton Station, Alpha.
Surbiton also claimed the $16,000 stablemate, Jamar Milford (21 months). Jamar Monsoon (21-months) sold for $13,000 to TVF Pastoral Company, Albro, Clermont. Surbiton purchased four to average a hefty $15,875, including the $19,000 Cardona Quad.
Leading the support was Ian Masterson, IM Grazing, Lochlea Station, Mt Garnet taking 15 to average $4633. Another was Bill and Ian Mylrea, Coorabelle , Springsure signing off on six for a $6083 medium. Craig Hindle, Bullamakinka Stud, Toobeah outlaid $20,000 to secure the 21-month, 920kg, Canowindra Pistol (PS) (Yarrawonga Actor) (131cm sq EMA). Tony Harrold, Tonlena, Emerald took a pair to average $9500 topping at $11,000 for the 705kg, Canowindra Primo (P) (17months).
Shaun and Mindy Durdin, Heathwood, Springsure returned taking a pair to average $6750 topping at $9500 for a Cardona Mambo son aged 26-months. Clive Roberts and family, Raymond, Springsure also returned to take four for on average $7000 while the Moller family, Recruit, Clermont lent major support taking with them eight to average $7000. Top for Recruit at $11,000 was the 34 month, 1065kg, 145cm sq EMA, Cardona Paxton. The Hatton family, Diamond H Stud, Chinchilla secured the $15,000 Canowindra President (PS) (895kg) (136cm sq EMA), while TVF Pastoral Company, Albro, Clermont took with them five for a $10,600 average topping at $15,500 for the 760kg, Canowindra Pathfinder (P) (17 months) (Yarrawonga Actor (P)).
The Bambling family, Merion, Dingo purchased a trio to average $3833, while Roper Valley Pastoral Company, Roper Valley, Middlemount also took three for on average $4833. Bevan Mackenzie and family, Tanyar Cattle Company, Blackwater purchased the $14,000 22-month- old Cardona Quota (P) (Cardona Nogoa), while the Barlow family, Yarrabee Stud, Dingo secured the $7000 prospect, Cardona Powerstroke (PS) (20 months) (Cardona Mambo). Another prefix to invest was the Dunlop Stud, Proston operated by Scott and Rebecca Dunlop. Their $7500 acquisition was the 910kg, Cardona Quarter Time (Cardona Mambo) (23 months). Alastair and Karen Kirk, Olinda, Baralaba paid $7500 for the 23-month-old Cardona QC.
