CQLX agents penned 2468 head on August 11 at Gracemere consisting of 1350 steers, 870 heifers, 203 cows, five cows and calves and 35 bulls.
The market firmed in most descriptions however weaner steers gained some ground and weaner heifers eased on last week’s rates.
Competition from a full buying panel was limited on selected lines, reflective of recent downward trends. Cattle were drawn from Bowen, Collinsville, Nebo, Middlemount, Dingo, Theodore and local areas.
Light yearling steers returning to grass sold above 280c. Slaughter steers remained firm topping 278.2c to average 257c, while steers 400-500kg made 294.2c to average 276c.
Steers 300-400kg sold to 316.2c to average 284c, steers 200-300kg rose 15c/kg to top 344.2c to average 327.9c, while steers under 200kg sold to a firm 348.2c to average 323.8c.
A smaller mixed quality offering of cows improved by 8c to 12c. Slaughter cows made 249.2c to average 204.3c and cows 400-450kg sold to 200.2c to average 171.1c.
Meanwhile cows 320-400kg made 210.2c to average 171.2c.
Heavy heifers sold to 280.2c to average 243.2c, heifers 300-400kg made 280.2c to average 249.2c, heifers 200-300kg eased 8c/kg to top 290.2c to aveage 255.2c, while heifers under 200kg made 278.2c to average 243.2.
Bull numbers increased with those to live export selling to 221c. Bulls over 600kg sold to 229.2c to average 205.1c, bulls 450kg-600kg topped 212.2c to average 192.1c, while bulls under 450kg remained firm to make 306.2c to average 265.4c.

Riverside Pastoral Nebo sold Brahman No6 cross steers for 284c weighing 381kg to return $1083 and the heifers averaged 256c weighing 345kg to return $885.
