Agents yarded just over 1500 head of cattle at the weekly Emerald sale on July 13.
A mixed quality yarding was evident with few restocker buyers present for light weight cattle. Slaughter types eased in rate which was mainly quality driven.
Most cattle came from the local areas and west to Alpha. A full field of buyers kept prices close to firm or a little improved on last week’s sale.
Bullocks over 550kg reached 267c/kg to average 262 cents and steers 500-550kg made to 287c to average 269 cents.
Meanwhile steers 400-500kg made to 300c and averaged 254 cents, steers 350-400kg peaked at 311c to average 282 cents and 280-350kg steers topped at 352c to average 294 cents.
Steers in the weaner weight ranges topped at 377c to a solid average of 340 cents.
Heifers over 400kg topped at 279c to average 252 cents, with heifers 350-400kg reaching 311c to average 259 cents, 280-350kg heifers peaked at 333c to average 270 cents.
Meanwhile heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 335c to average 272 cents.
Cows over 520kg reached 225c to average 212 cents, with cows 450-520kg making to 218c to average 200 cents. A mixed line-up of cows and calves with the best to $1850 per unit.

The Sibson family, Cotherstone, Dysart sold Brahman cows to 228c to weigh 571kg or $1303.
Graham and Lisa Ford, Rickyl, Capella offered Brahman cows to 218c to weigh 548kg or $1196.
The Barlow family, Amaroo, Comet sold Brangus cows to 212c to weigh 588kg and $1248.
The Benney family, Subera, Sapphire sold a line of Brahman cross heifers to 323c to weigh 281kg or $910.
The Brimblecombe family, Dalkeith, Capella consigned Droughtmaster cross heifers to 289c to weigh 329kg and $951.
