EIDSVOLD-based producers Paul Hatton and Sons have bought the Monto property Camelot for $7.45 million at a Ray White Rural auction.
Offered by Charles and Marj Pollock, the 6126 hectare (15,137 acre) property comprises of 4672ha (11,546 acres) in nine freehold titles and 1454ha (3593 acres) of leasehold.
Marketing agent Mark Simpson, Ray White Rural, said four of the 11 parties which registered to bid were active at the auction. Bidding opened at $4m.
At $7.45m the sale price is equal to about $1216/ha ($492/acre).
Located 47km from Monto, the property is described as a mix of rich Burnett River alluvial flats, sweet ironbark forest and a small area of softwood scrub. There are large tracks of the alluvial loams along river and creek flats suited for cropping.
Camelot is said to have consistently carried the equivalent to 1500 head of two year old dry cattle.
Water is supplied from permanent water in river and creeks and 10 dams. There are also seasonal swamps and billabongs. Pastures include buffel, panics, legumes, sabi, Rhodes, creeping blue, blue and black spear.
Improvement include a lowset homestead with picturesque views, sheds, quarters, stables, and three sets of strategically positioned cattle yards. There are 15 main paddocks plus holding paddocks.
