With a cancelled sale last week due to lack of numbers, Emerald agents yarded a total of 1100 at the weekly Emerald Sale on May 25.
The good quality yarding was drawn mostly from the local area together with cattle from Alpha and Clermont. There was a full panel of buyers present including one live export operator and prices were generally improved for most descriptions from the previous sale two weeks ago.
Heavy bullocks over 550kg made to 288c/kg to average 284c, with steers 500-550kg making to 313c to average 301c.
Steers 400-500kg reached 319c to average 304c, 350-400kg steers made to 342c to average 311c, steers 280-350kg reached 382c to average 313c.
Meanwhile steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 392c to average 372c.
Heifers over 400kg made to 297c to average 274c, heifers 350-400kg made to 303c to average 277c and 280-350kg heifers peaked at 296c to average 279c.
Meanwhile heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 323c to average 282c.
Heavy cows over 520kg made to 266c to average 223c, while cows 450-520kg reached 225c to average 217c.
A mixed yarding of cows and calves with the best to $1560 per unit.

Greg and Sonya Spencer, Mayfield, Willows offered Brahman cows reaching 224c to weigh 611kg or $1369.
The Prince family, OakPark, Capella offered Droughtmaster cows to 225c to weigh 618kg or $1392.
Noel and Dallas Daley, Wilford, Willows sold Brahman heifers to 278c to weigh 425kg and $1182.
The Beak family, Bonnie Doon, Gindie sold Euro cross heifers to 297c to weigh 433kg or $1288.
