Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 1399 cattle consisting of 951 prime cattle and 415 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 179 bullocks, 29 heifers, 655 cows and 88 Bulls.
Store cattle consisted of 229 steers, 186 heifers and 23 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised of limited numbers of bullocks but were well supported by good lines of finished meatworks cows.
The yarding was drawn from Cloncurry, Richmond, Julia Creek, Hughenden, Georgetown, Einasleigh, Ingham local and coastal areas.
In the prime quotes, bullocks were quoted as 1-2c dearer, heifers were 2-4c dearer and cows were 4-6c easier on last week’s rates. Bulls were similar to last week.
Bullocks topped at 267c/kg for a pen of 11 Brahman steers sold on account of Est MJ McMahon, Charters Towers that weighed 571kg to return $1527 per head.
Feeder steers topped at 300c/kg sold on account of B & K Heuir.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on account of David Jackson, Charters Towers making 269c/kg to weigh 394kg and return $1060 per head.
The top pen of cows were sold by Bluegrass Cattle Co, Charters Towers for 235c/kg and weighed 518kg to return $1217 per head.
Bulls sold on account of James Jones, Giru, topped at 275c/kg and weighed 445kg to return $1224 per head.
Store quotes saw a decrease in numbers but the quality was good, steers were up to 8-10c dearer and heifers easier by 5-8c.
A pen of nine No 7 steers on account of BA and LE Corbett made 388c/kg and weighed 181kg and realised $703 per head.
A good pen of 10 heifers on account of Lazy R Brahmans made 324c/kg, weighed 199kg and returned a good average of $645 per head.
Cows and calves were insufficient to quote.
The next sale at Dalrymple Saleyards, Charters Towers is booked for Wednesday May 10.
