ALPHA race club President Kevin Wiltshire is hoping for another massive turnout for the club’s once a year meeting.
All Central Highlands race goers should save the date for one of the Central Highlands showpiece race days on the circuit.
Alpha Jockey Club will host their annual race day on June 24, which is Alpha's social day of days.
This has become a yearly reunion for locals and ex locals and will coincide with a big weekend of activities in Alpha starting off with the big Alpha Cup calcutta on Friday night at the Alpha golf club.
Kevin Wiltshire and Treasurer Rob Bauer and their hard working committee have worked extremely hard to get the Fordham Park racecourse grounds looking an absolute picture in readiness for the big day.
A show piece day of country racing and entertainment will be on offer which will also coincide with a highly competitive fashions of the field competition with over $10,000 worth of cash and prizes.
The Alpha races lays claims to be one of the richest if not the richest in prizes for fashions of the field in regional Queensland.
A very well stocked bar will be operating on the day and a canteen also will be in operation.
Children’s entertainment including a jumping castle and a merry-go-round will be in operation into the early evening to keep the kids entertained.
A live band called Bareback will perform after the races to keep patrons entertained till late.
A gold coin donation for buses are being run by the club before and after the races into the centre of town.
Gates will open at 11am and a lucky gate prize will also be on offer and a big recovery breakfast on Sunday morning.
More than $77500 worth of prize money will also be on offer making it one of the Central Highlands richest race days to ensure a high calibre of racing with the leading Central Queensland stables of Todd Austin, Glenda Bell, Tom Button and the Miles magician Bevan Johnson being represented.
It will be a six card meeting with the punters being well catered for with a large strong ring of bookmakers, and Sky Channel.
The feature event of the day, the $20000 Alpha Cup Open Handicap over 1700 metres, which will attract a high quality field of milers stayers the other feature the Belyando bracelet worth $12500 over 1000 metres will be sure to attract a field of top tier sprinters.
The $15000 QTIS maiden handicap over 1000 metres will also attract a quality field with the big $5000 QTIS bonus on offer be sure to make it out to the Alpha races.
