Much anticipated rain fell across north west Queensland, with up to 53 millimetres recorded over 12 hours in Cloncurry last night.
The Bureau of Meteorology reported an inland trough crossed the region late Monday evening (February 13) causing widespread rain.
Cloncurry residents were pleased to receive some much needed rain after consistently missing big rain over the wet season.
Richmond received the second highest record with 49mm.
John Wharton expressed his happiness on the Who Got Rain Facebook Page saying he received 48mm in Richmond and hoped the monsoon had finally set in.
Whites Mountain recorded 40mm to the east while May Downs Station recorded 23mm in the far west.
Julia Creek received a small amount compared to the rest of the year, only recording 19mm. Julia Creek had already recorded 150mm for the month of January.
Mount Isa and Hughenden received the least only recording 10mm.
More rain is expected this week with scattered afternoon showers across the north west although no more than 10mm is expected to fall.
