Calls for royal commission into Australian banks | Poll
The plight of Pentland graziers, the Bradshaw family, who lost one of their properties to receivers last week, has reignited calls for a royal commission into Australia’s banking system.
KAP Member for Dalrymple Shane Knuth said the Bradshaw’s case highlighted the urgent need for a royal commission.
“After five years of drought and the live export ban, it takes years to build up herds after those loses,” Mr Knuth said.
“And yet the bank never took any of that into consideration with the Bradshaws.”
Mr Knuth said a royal commission would look at the “ruthless operation” of Australian banks.
