Roses are red, violets are blue, my heart is full of love for you...
February is a month of love and romance, but a Charters Towers florist is not slowing down as she prepares for her busiest day of the year.
For Gayette Burt, the month of love is a hectic time when she chooses flowers to arrange for Valentines Day.
As the sole owner of Blossom Shoppe, Ms Burt is in charge of the whole process from creating the bouquets to hand delivering them to clients.
“Each year our orders vary. This year with Valentines Day on a weekday we are expecting to do up to 350 orders,” she said.
“We do a really impressive special each year that includes a vase of roses, cupcakes, chocolates and balloons, to keep the romance alive in the town.”
With so many flowers to chose from, Ms Burt said there is something for everyone.
“A bouquet can tell a lot about someone by the type of flowers they pick. Not everyone is into roses, so we make sure we cater for a wide variety.
“If customers have no idea what they want, leave it up to us. We are a small town, we know a lot of people and have an idea of what people like.”
If one thing is certain, love will be in the air on February 14.
