When a crime wave hits Happy Valley, there's a caseload of mysteries to be solved. Who's stolen Ma Hubbard's recipe book? Who's kidnapped Marigold the cow? And what dirty secret is Papa Bear hiding behind his Porridge empire?
Nearly 45 students from the Longreach School of Distance Education had a ton of fun acting out the mysteries as barmy billy goats, loopy lumberjacks, a potty police squad and a runaway cow, when they presented Porridge for their biennial end-of-year school musical in Longreach last week.
About 96 students participated altogether, directed by Sean Dennehy from Brisbane after auditioning and winning a role.
All the students not in the cast were in the chorus.
Described as having “all the ingredients of a delicious production – packed with spoonfuls of sparkling songs and bowlfuls of belly laughs” – the musical comedy was presented before a full house.
According to school Parent Liaison Officer, Deanne Jones, it was the “best yet, just amazing”.
