Graziers will discover what makes soil healthy, how to tell if it’s alive, how to re-energise it, and how to make positive changes for their business at an upcoming series of NQ Dry Tropics workshops from 21 to 25 November 2016.
Registration is now open for the hands-on Building Healthy Soils workshops, which will focus on discovering ways of building healthy, live soils on grazing properties.
NQ Dry Tropics Field Officer Linda Anderson said understanding how local soils were structured was vital.
“Understanding what they can produce and how to make them more stable and productive can boost productivity and help maintain a sustainable enterprise,” she said.
The events will be hosted by graziers on-property at three locations across the Burdekin:
- Oaklands Station, Balfes Creek on Monday 21 November
- Mt Coolon Station, Mt Coolon on Wednesday 23 November
- Monklands Station, Alpha on Friday 25 November
Speakers include soil experts Kirsty Youman and Mick Alexander. Register now by contacting Linda Anderson on 0438 035 489 or linda.anderson@nqdrytropics.com.au.
