THE LNP opposition says the Palaszczuk government has descended further into chaos following the resignation of Leanne Donaldson as agriculture minister.
Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls said Ms Palaszczuk had failed a basic test of leadership by not sacking Ms Donaldson before she fell on her sword late in parliament tonight (Thursday).
“Annastacia Palaszczuk’s failure to stand up and show some leadership is indicative of this do-nothing Labor Government which continues to stumble from crisis to crisis,” Mr Nicholls said.
“The continuing failures of the Palaszczuk Government were on full display in Parliament tonight, as it’s become clear Annastacia Palaszczuk has no control over her party or its internal factional disputes.
“Not once did Annastacia Palaszczuk step up and show leadership, despite Ms Donaldson publicly admitting she had breached community expectations.
“Queenslanders are the real losers out of this. Instead of delivering for the people of Queensland, Labor are only worried about their own jobs.”
Mr Nicholls said transport minister Stirling Hinchliffe needed to follow suit and take responsibility for his failings around the train network crisis that had affected South East Queensland during the past two weeks.
“At least Leanne Donaldson did the right thing and recongised she had failed to meet the standards of being a minister,” Mr Nicholls said.
“It’s now time for Stirling Hinchliffe to do the same and resign.”
Mr Hincliffe is a member of Labor’s Right AWU faction, controlled by premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
