Brisbane architectural firm Cox Rayner is the firm that will design the new Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton.
The museum honouring the history behind Australia’s unofficial national anthem was destroyed by fire in the early hours of June 18 last year.
Nineteen architects from across Australia responded to the Winton Shire Council’s invitation for expressions of interest to rebuild the centre, with five preferred concepts shortlisted and put on display for community feedback in December 2015.

To reach the important milestone in the centre’s reconstruction, shortlisted respondents were invited to submit a tender price, which were received in February.
The new Winton Shire Council selected and confirmed Cox Rayner from this process at its first meeting in early April.
Winton Mayor Butch Lenton met with the design, curatorial, engineering and project management team in Brisbane last week.
