The M/V Ocean Swagman, has completed repairs and sea trials in Montevideo and has returned to normal operations.
The Wellard vessel is expected to begin loading a consignment of cattle in the next few days.
A statement from Wellards said that on completion of the voyage the MV Ocean Swagman would load cattle in South America as part of Wellard’s strategy to develop global supply.
“With the expected return to operation of one of Wellard’s other vessels, the M/V Ocean Outback, later in the month, Wellard has a booked a program to load 40,000 cattle in the month of March from Australia and South America,” the statement reads.
“They will be transported to various destinations in South East Asia and the Middle East.”
Wellard CEO Mauro Balzarini said it was pleasing that the company’s full fleet wopuld be back in operation soon.
“We are receiving strong customer demand and sourcing sufficient supply for livestock to fill customer orders, so the fleet will be well utilised,” he said.
“We are also working on capitalising on new market opportunities in the coming months.”
