FAR north Queensland eventer Hazel Shannon has been named in Equestrian Australia’s National Recognition Squad.
The squad acknowledge horse and rider combinations that have demonstrated performances at competition level worthy of recognition during the previous 12 months.
Hazel, who grew up in Mutchilba, west of Cairns, and her horse Clifford train under former Olympian, assistant coach and Australian champion Heath Ryan at Ryans at Newcastle Equestrian Centre.
The combination has moved quickly through the eventing stages and posted incredible results in a short period including a seventh place at the 2015 Australian International Three Day Event in Adelaide, the pinnacle of competitions for those contesting national selection.
