Spectators were kept on the edge of their seats during the Qld and NT Indigenous Bull Riding Championships held at the Charters Towers Equestrian Centre on Saturday night.
Riders competed across novice, juvenile and open divisions on the night which featured some top class bucking bulls sourced by Charters Towers-based stock contractor Adam Power.
Despite the courageous efforts of the riders in the open division the night was won by the bulls with no eight second rides reached in the quest for the prize money.
The results didn’t deter the enthusiasm of the crowd who cheered each and every rider who came out of the chutes in their quest for glory.
It was event coordinator John Moss’s idea showcase the talent of riders from Queensland and the Top End to celebrate the 20th Bucko Billy Rodeo because he thought many talented riders weren’t getting an opportunity to compete on a big stage.
