RESULTS of last week's highly successful Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale have emphasised the industry influence and market appeal of the bloodlines on offer at the forthcoming NCC Brahman Sale at Inverrio, Duaringa.
The Nobbs Cattle Company and their invited vendors, Tony and Joanne Fenech and family, of the FBC Stud, have catalogued an exceptional selection of 69 grey sire prospects, 35 red sire prospects, 12 grey stud heifers and six red stud heifers for the Tuesday, October 30, event.
Brett Nobbs, NCC Stud, was delighted to witness the widespread, strong demand for high quality bulls at Brahman Week and to see a NCC-sired bull top the red section of the sale.
Young studmaster Tom Nobbs, Yoman T Stud, secured the $50,000 top red price for his bull Yoman T 111/0, sired by NCC Ability. The positive impact that the NCC bloodlines are having on the Brahman industry can be gauged from the fact that 11 percent of Brahman Week's red bull offering, 46 bulls, were produced by NCC sires.
"That's what we like to see success for the studs and bullock producers who invest in the NCC genetics," Brett Nobbs said.
Adding significance to the NCC sale appeal is the breeding of Brahman Week's $60,000 grey sale-topper, FBC Megatron Manso, a son of JDH Modelo Manso. The Fenechs have included a son and a daughter of Modelo in their NCC Sale team.
The development of the on-property NCC sale over the past few years has culminated in a 2012 offering of greater strength and number than any previous selection catalogued for the sale.
"Distinct natural weight performance and carcase quality underwrites the beef industry values of the offering, and then there are a number of sires in the greys and reds that show that additional outstanding sire potential of the highest quality," Brett Nobbs said.
"The FBC team is very attractive and strongly bred. The two sale drafts complement each other perfectly and provide a sizable selection so that all buyers and budgets are satisfied."
After last year's stellar sale ring debut, the sale progeny of JDH Mr Elmo Manso are certain to again be highly sought after. A total of 22 was sold last year and 47 are in this year's catalogue.
"He's proving to be an extremely rare sire his sons and daughters are now breeding so we have a lot to assess him on, he keeps exceeding our expectations and moving the bar higher," Brett Nobbs said.
This year's sale bulls by Elmo include Cusack, lot 6, a half-brother to industry-leading sire Tartrus Aristotle Manso, Delacruz, lot 15l, and Duvall, lot 76, brothers to last year's $40,000 sire, Diplomat, and Muscat, lot 77, a half-brother to $21,000 sire Cedar.
Other feature sons of JDH Elmo in the catalogue are Eldridge, lot 55, Elmorel, lot 95, Elbert, lot 96, Elgin, lot 97, and Efron, lot 98, five full brothers, the first sale progeny of NCC's $20,000 heifer purchase Clukan Elana 079; and Sombrero, lot 75, whose granddam is one of the stud's leading matrons, already producing $30,000, $28,000, $25,000 and $11,000 sale bulls.
The NCC draft also features sons of JDH Sir Marri Manso, JDH Sir Watts Manso, Brahrock Avenue, Brahrock Settler and NCC Lox Rex in the greys, and Wandilla Zulu, NCC Jackson and NCC Springbok in the reds.
The 2012 Brahman Feature Show reserve junior champion bull, FBC Messiah Manso, by FBC Mr Arnie Manso, heads the Fenech family draft.
A rising two-year-old, he is a stylish, well-muscled bull with easy finishing ability.
Tony Fenech selected his NCC sale team of high-quality bulls on age.
"There are a number of bulls in our draft that on quality are right up with the tops of those we took to Brahman Week, but Brett's sale, a month later, was more suited to their age," Tony said.
Other feature sires in the FBC grey line-up are by JDH Mr Echo Manso, FBC Eton Manso, FBC Jermoe De Manso, JDH Nieto De Manso and LL Sugar Ely Manso. The big, long-bodied, strong-muscled FBC Alex, a full African-bred bull, leads the stud's selection of red sires.
An invaluable opportunity for studmasters comes with the sale's heifer offering.
NCC's six young grey females are all Elmos, bred out of daughters of Datapack, Powerstroke, Sarasota and Mr Manso 855, while the FBC Greys carry proven genetics in every generation of their pedigrees. Wandilla Zulu features as the sire of five of the six red heifers.
