XXXX has announced that Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Birdsville will feature on the front of their new stubbies.
Thirty-six towns across Queensland will appear on the label of the limited edition XXXX Origins.
The stubbies are available until the end of February or until stock runs out.
Oasis Hotel Motel manager Shane Moscrop said Cloncurry residents were excited to have their home town featured on the new XXXX stubbies.
“XXXX has to be as iconic as it gets when people look at beer and alcohol in Australia, right up there with VB and Fosters,” he said.
“For XXXX to pay tribute to its state is one thing, but for it to recognise outback Queensland towns that can often get overlooked is great.
“As for locals, it’s the first thing they ask when they see the new XXXX Origin cartons.
“Only 36 towns were chosen so they love it when they hear, ‘Yes, we made it on a stubbie’.”
Mount Isa Buffalo Club manager Karen Graham believes the stubbies are going to be as popular as the Mount Isa Rodeo XXXX cans.
“I think it is a great thing,” she said.
“It is nice to see that we were included and not just the cities.”
Ms Graham said Mount Isa would appreciate featuring on the new labels and embrace the attention.
XXXX brand director Tanya Marler said for two years XXXX Gold had released specialty cans for the Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to recognise their significance than by commemorating them on a bottle of XXX Origins,” Ms Marler said.
“We know that Queenslanders want a contemporary beer that appeals to their evolving tastes, so we created XXXX Origins just for them.
“We believe that we’ve reached a great mix of towns across the state and there is pretty good chance every Queensland will have a connection to at least one of the 36 towns.”
Other towns to be featured on labels include Atherton, Cairns, Chinchilla, Jimboomba, Gin Gin, Rockhampton, Roma, Warwick, Toowoomba, Gatton and Gladstone.
