The $70,000 top, $12,523 average and 100 per cent clearance at the NCC Brahman annual bull sale on Tuesday was not just a boon for the stud, but for the Brahman breed.
“It is exciting to think what we as Brahman breeders can achieve,” said stud principal Brett Nobbs, who could barely wipe the grin off his face when the sale average was read out.
Over 200 potential buyers attended the on-property sale at Inverrio, Duaringa, where 97 bulls and 14 females were sold with 100 per cent clearance in what is the stud’s best sale yet.
The heifers averaged $3893 and also had a 100pc clearance.
“To achieve a result like today is phenomenal,” Mr Nobbs said, referring to the widespread dry.
The sale topper, 21-month-old NCC Lord Delaware, sold to a partnership between Julie and David McCamley, Palmal, and Anna and Andrew McCamley, 2AM, both at Dingo.
Their purchase was hot on the heels of their own success at Gracemere on Monday with the Lancefield Brahmans Invitation Sale, which topped at $65,000.
A full report on the NCC Brahman sale will appear in next week’s Queensland Country Life.
