CHAROLAIS bulls sold to $30,000 and Angus to $22,000 at Jim Wedge’s Ascot dual breed sale at Warwick on Friday.
In a rip-roaring sale with a 100 per cent clearance, 49 Angus averaged $7633 and 53 Charolais averaged $6443.
Both breeds’ sale toppers were knocked down to Manumbar Pastoral Co operating through Armidale agent Mike Wilson. (see p61)
Manumbar’s draft included the $30,000 Charolais sire Ascot Juggernaut and the $22,000 top priced Angus bull Ascot Theo. The dual Beef 2015 and the Royal Queensland Show grand champion is a homozygous polled, red factor bull by Asot Eldorado and from Palgrove Estella. Theo was the pick of the draft and is by Booroomooka Theo and from Millah Murrah Flower.
Manumbar also proved the sale’s volume buyer taking eight Angus bulls at an average $12,125 for Lyndley Station, Jandowae, and six Charolais bulls at an average $13,083 for Manumbar Station, Goomeri.
Second top at $22,000 was Ascot Julius Caesar which sold to Minnie Vale Charolais, Bexley, Narrabri. Caeser, a homozygous polled bull, is by Lt Rio Bravo and from Gobongo Juliette.
Clare Charolais, Theodore, paid $17,000 for the young sire Ascot Knockout. The Gray family, The Hut, Marlborough, bought the red factor sire Ascot Keepsake for $12,000. Diamond L Charolais, Nanango, took the red factor poll Ascot Kilroy for $7500.
Balonne Plains, St George, bought four for an average $4750. Will and Susan Appleton, Clermont, bought six for a top of $6000 for an average $4417. The Packer family, Hartwood, Roma, bought three for a top of $7500 to average $6000.
Jason Black, Toowoomba, bought three to $5500. John and Ben Drynan, Gallinani, Esk, paid $5500 and $4000 for two. Rosetta Grazing Co, Collinsville, paid $6000 and $5500. The Terry family, Old Rainworth, Forsyth, bought four including Ascot Kincaid for $6000.
Greg and Errol Saxby, Wallangarra, bought three Angus for a $9333 average. Neville and Judy Hendricks, Injune, bought two to $8000. The Jones family, Glen Innes, bought three at $7000 each.
Logan Cattle Co, Currajong Park, Meandarra, bought six for an average $7000 including Ascot Evident J224 for $9000. Fairview Cattle Co, Alpha, bought two blacks for $5500 and $5000 and three Charolais for $6000, $5500 and $5000.
Reiland Angus, Tumut, bought Ascot Gapsted J375 for $11,000. David and Prue Bondfield, Palgrove, Dalveen, paid $10,000 for Ascot Fletcher. Will and Megan Officer, Belmore West, Yelarbon, bought Bartel for $8000.
