Dr Cameron Archer AC will retire from his long held position as Tocal College principal at the end of September, but that doesn't mean he is heading for retirement.
Dr Archer has been principal at Tocal since 1987, plans to spend more time pursuing his interests in our colonial pastoral history.
"I am interested in continuing to promote agricultural education, particularly to schools and the community in general through the Belgenny Farm Trust and the Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia," Dr Archer said.
"It is not 'retirement' because I want to keep on doing things."
He plans to write about the environmental and social history of the Paterson Valley, turning his PhD thesis into a book.
Dr Archer said it was time for a change of leadership at the College.
"Australian agriculture has sophisticated production methods, and Tocal College needs a leader who is able to promote courses suitable for future student's needs," he said.
"I am sad, but I feel like I've accomplished something and that I can now go onto other things."
