COMEDIAN Jimbo Bazoobi is not kidding when it comes to liking goats.
With a phenomenal following on Facebook of 731,177 likes, ‘acting the goat’ has literally launched him into a meteoric rise to fame.
Having recently completed a tour of Tableland towns, it is astounding to know that he has performed in front of ex-Prime Minister Gough Whitlam as well as having toured his solo comedy show across the globe having performed throughout South Africa, the U.K, Germany, Spain and Croatia.
Jimbo has also entertained the Australian troops on two tours to East Timor and one to the Solomon Islands.
In 1994, Jimbo traveled to Wisconsin, USA, to participate in Clown Camp at the University of La Crosse.
Following this he was selected for the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Clown College. This College auditions over 3000 people each year in America and selects 30 for an eight week intensive training course, in order to tour throughout America with the circus.
After being selected and then encountering green card problems, Jimbo took up a contract offer instead, to tour throughout amusement parks in Japan, doing a one-man clown show. He was based at Tokyo’s oldest amusement park, Korakuen Park next to Tokyo Dome.
Jimbo started off as a kid’s party clown in Sydney during the 90’s before going into Stand-up comedy. In 2001 he performed the first stand-up show for kids at ‘The Melbourne Comedy Festival’.
He was also a placegetter in Sydney’s Standup Comedian of the year as well as being
Sydney’s most popular children’s party clown throughout the 90′s.
Jimbo has had many years of experience successfully performing his G-Rated comedy at schools, children’s parties, kindergartens, Aboriginal communities, amusement parks and television shows. His TV credits as a clown include A Country practice (Channel 7), Foxcubs (Foxtel), Cubbyhouse (Foxtel) and Amanda Keller’s working girl (Channel 10).
Since then Jimbo has been in demand as key note comedian in schools across Australia.
He has been a comedian for the last 20 years and has been doing stand-up comedy for the last ten years.
Jimbo obtained Gary when he was only 9 months old and a third of his current size.
“A guy offered him to me in exchange for a carton of beer,” Jimbo said.
He took him up on the offer and has never looked back.
Half Saanen in breeding, Gary was born in Gin Gin in WA while Jimbo was born in Sydney.
Gary was named after the person that Jimbo obtained him from. The pair have been touring together for the last three years.
Gary’s favourite foods are roses and cigarette butts.
In perhaps his most famous encounter yet, Gary went from being a goat to a scapegoat when he was accused of ‘destroying vegetation’ whilst eating grass in Circular Quay in Sydney. The case went to court and was widely televised before being thrown out of court and condemned as a ‘waste of tax payer’s money’.
Now Jimbo concentrates on touring outback pubs in Australia and Gary the goat is a public figure.
The immense talent of Jimbo allows him to switch from one end of the comedy spectrum to the other. As well as his rated G shows he also does shows that contain ribald, mature rated R content which are unapologetically raw, honest, uncensored, interactive and uniquely Australian.
His comedy shows are specially tailored to drunks in pubs, children and Ex-Prime Ministers.
A self confessed comedian, nomad, and goat lover, Jimbo travels Australia with his mate Gary the Goat looking for a new adventure every day.
