INGHAM turned on a great day of racing on a bright and sunny end-of-winter’s day last Saturday for the Herbert River Jockey Club’s 2014 Annual Races featuring the Coscer Financial Professionals Ingham Gold Cup.
This race meeting in this northern Sugarcane community is fast developing a reputation as the fashion event of the year in North Queensland.
This year’s Fashions on the field was no exception as this photo proves. Pictured are Fashions on the Field winners Naomi Jones, Millinery, Mikaela Chinotti, Classic Race Wear, and Clare Bosworth, Contemporary Race Wear.

The Ingham Gold Cup race meeting has established itself as one of the must attend events on the North Queensland racing calendar and testimony to this is the 1000 plus race goers that turned out in style to the Ingham race course.
In the fashions stakes, this event rivals any in the north including the Townsville and Cairns Amateurs race meetings. In Saturdays keenly contested event Naomi Jones won the Millinery division, Mikaela Chinotti was judged Classic Race Wear winner and Clare Bosworth took out the Contemporary Race Wear prize while Paul Johnston was judged the Best Dressed Male.
Trainer John Manzelman enhanced his reputation as “cup king” of regional racing taking home the Coscer Financial Professionals sponsored Ingham Gold Cup with Bracho Mick ridden by Lee Attard who was riding in his first meeting since retiring from riding ten years ago to the day.
In a close finish Watertight ridden by Frank Edwards took 2nd just a half-length behind with Zigurat, jockey Shohei Kaya a half-head behind. Story and photos REG BURTON
