A HISTORICAL display titled 100 Years of ANZAC will be launched at Mackay Showgrounds on Monday as part of this year’s ANZAC centenary celebrations.
Featuring countless original objects, equipment and memorabilia from The Mackay & District Military Museum’s private collection, the exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the lives of our ANZAC soldiers.
The display also gives residents the opportunity to gain a greater appreciation of what life in a war zone looked like at the turn of the century.
A replica observation trench, campsite and hospital tent has been created to highlight the conditions soldiers endured on a daily basis.
Residents are being encouraged to visit the exhibition after attending one of the many ANZAC Day services being held around the region on Saturday, April 25.
The exhibition will launch on Monday, April 20, and will be on display from 8am to 5.30pm daily at Mackay Showgrounds until April 25 and from 9am to 4pm on ANZAC Day.
The exhibition is free to attend, however a donation upon entry is appreciated.
The Mackay & District Military Museum and Mackay RSL received more than $10,000 in funding through Mackay Regional Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund to put towards creating the display.
