FREE seedlings, native plants and tap timers are just some of the free items that are being handed out at this year’s Mackay Show to help residents instill pride in our region.
Mayor Deirdre Comerford said the show is a great opportunity for residents to see first-hand the services and facilities council offers and how they too can help make the region a beautiful place to live.
“Our parks officers are on hand to answer all your plant questions and they are handing out free seedlings and native plants to help you transform your garden into a beautiful oasis,’’ Cr Comerford said.
“You can also learn about recycling; how to reduce your waste, and how to set-up a worm farm by exploring our waste education trailer,” she said.
“There is also plenty of things to keep the kids entertained at the council display. Let them explore the magical world of our library services and learn more about our Pound Pets.”
Staff are also on hand to help you sign up to council’s free myh2o website to help you keep a close eye on your water usage.
If you’re thirsty, you can also get yourself a cup of quality Mackay water, at no cost.
The City Centre stall has been set up in the council pavilion so you can find out the latest on the City Centre Revitalisation project.
“I encourage everyone to visit the Mackay Show and experience the great local talent on offer; from fresh produce, agriculture to entertainment it’s a great day for the whole family.”
