CHARTERS Towers combined agents yarded a total of 799 cattle at the prime and store sale held on June 27.
The yarding was comprised of 59 prime Cattle and 740 store cattle. The prime cattle yarded consisted of two bullocks, 18 heifers, 33 cows and six bulls.
There were insufficient numbers to quote prime, but there were some good numbers and lines of store cattle yarded. The yarding was drawn from coastal and local areas.
In the prime section the best priced trade heifers were sold by CJ Payne, which made 100c/kg to weigh 390kg and return $390/head, the top pen of cows were also sold by CJ Payne for 99c weighing 470kg to return $466.
Bulls sold by P and DG De Wiljes, topped at 105c, weighing 645kg to return $678.
The good lines of store cattle sold well. With limited buyers in attendance due to the ongoing dry conditions.
Store Cattle yarded were comprised of 401 steers, 333 heifers, three cows and three cows and calves.
Steers to 200kg topped at 155c to average 154c, 200-320kg steers made 160c to average 123c, steers 320-400kg reached 114c to average 96c, and those over 400kg hit 118c to average 98c.
Heifers to 200kg made 114c to average 107c, 200-320kg heifers peaked at 114c to average 102c, heifers 320-370kg reached 102c to average 91c, and those over 370kg topped at 100c to average 94c.
A pen of 27 steers sold by Fry Bloodline Trust made 160c weighed 226kg and realized $363, they also sold a good pen of 33 heifers which made 114c weighed 226kg and returned a good average of $257.
Cows and calves sold by DS Gilchrist returned $380 per unit.
